Located on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall, The Dubai Aquarium is one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world. This remarkable Aquarium is home to thousands of marine creatures comprising over 140 species. More than 300 sharks and rays live in the tank, including one of the world’s largest collections of Sand tiger sharks.

The Dubai Aquarium is one of the most popular attractions in Dubai but instead of marveling at if from outside the massive acrylic screen, why not dive in for an awe inspiring adventure. Al Boom Diving have conducted the diving and in-water activities in Dubai Mall’s record breaking aquarium since the opening of the mall in 2008 and have options for both experienced divers and beginners, ages 8 and up.

Beginner options

Not a confident swimmer? No problem, you can still can still enjoy Dubai Mall’s Aquarium from beneath the surface. Intrigued by sharks but would still prefer to keep your distance? No problem, Al Boom Diving uses a special depth adjustable shark cage which has an acrylic floor. Try snorkeling in the confines of the cage which creates a shallow environment for you to enjoy a close but not too close encounter with the inhabitants of the Aquarium.

For something completely different try our Shark Walker helmets. These space-suit like helmets rest on your shoulders with a supply of air pumped to them from the surface while you walk along the clear acrylic floor of the cage for an out of this world experience, whilst barely getting your hair wet.

Those who’d like to try scuba diving but have never dived before or who perhaps have dived before but aren’t certified can explore the aquarium by participating in a PADI Discover Scuba program. Start with a short theory lesson to learn some of the basic scuba safety guidelines. Practice the basic scuba skills in shallow waters before venturing into the main tank of the aquarium all the time guided by our experienced instructors.

Sign up for a course that you’ll remember for a lifetime and become a certified PADI Scuba Diver with training dives in the Aquarium. Following your theory lessons where you will learn the essential skills of scuba diving you’ll put this knowledge to practice during three training dives on our specially built shallow water dive platform before diving into the depths of the main aquarium. The PADI Scuba Diver course will qualify you to dive to a depth of 12 meters under the supervision of a PADI professional.

If you’d like to dip your toes in the aquarium while keeping your head above the water our Ray Encounter is the answer. Hand feed eagle and cow nose rays from our shallow water platform. These magnificent, gentle creatures will leave you with a smile on your face as they breach the water’s surface to take fish from your hands. Waders are provided so you won’t even get your feet wet.

Certified Divers

Shark Dive. After a briefing with the do’s and don’ts to follow when diving alongside sharks and the aquarium’s other marine inhabitants, certified divers can explore the main tank of the aquarium for an exhilarating encounter with the ocean’s ultimate predator whilst guided by our PADI dive-masters or instructors./p>

  • Dive 1. Dive the main tank of the aquarium.
  • Dive 2. Underwater photography dive where divers can use their own underwater camera or our rental action cameras.
  • Dive 3. Observe the shark feeding from the safety of our shark cage whilst taking pictures of the sand tigers at close range.
