Interested in learning to dive but unsure how or where to start?

There are many different ways for you to start scuba diving. The main questions to ask are how much time do you have, what is your budget and how confident are you in the water?

A Try Dive is the quickest and most affordable starting point to “try” scuba diving. It’s also a good option if you’re not too confident in the water as the experience is conducted in the swimming pool. Try Dives take approximately half an hour in total in which time you will only spend a few minutes in the pool to enjoy the sensation of breathing underwater.

Next up is PADI’s Discover Scuba program. What’s is PADI? PADI is the Professional Association for diving Instructors and it is the agency under which our courses are conducted. Not a certifying course, PADI Discover Scuba gives you an introduction to scuba diving where you will learn and practice basic safety guidelines and skills. It can be completed in the pool only or combination of pool and beach dive but for the best experience we recommend a trip to our center in Fujairah at Le Meridien Al Aqah where you may complete your PADI Discover Scuba starting in the pool followed by a boat dive to one of the UAE’s best dive sites. Depending on the option you choose Discover Scuba can take as little as two hours to a full day.

If you’re ready to take the plunge and become a certified diver but a little short on time, PADI’s Scuba Diver Course is the answer for you. The course consists of 3 theory lessons, 3 pool dives and 2 beach dives. These lessons are designed for you to learn and practice the fundamentals of diving. Once you’re a certified PADI Scuba diver you may dive to a depth of twelve meters but must be guided by a PADI professional. The PADI Scuba Diver Course is an intermediary step to becoming a PADI Open Water Certified diver. Scuba Diver Course can be completed in 3 days.

PADI’s Open Water Diver course is the ideal entry point to becoming a certified diver. It will enable you to dive to a depth of 18 meters along with a person or buddy of similar certification unlike Scuba Diver where you must be guided by a PADI Pro. The Open Water Course consists of 5 theory lessons, 5 pool dives, and 4 ocean dives. If you’d like to reduce your expense as much as possible the ocean dives can be completed off Jumeirah beach, ask our team for our Open Water Lite option when signing up. For the best experience we suggest completing your fist two ocean dives off the beach and final to ocean dives from our boats which depart from our East Coast dive center where you will discover our favorite dive sites in the UAE. You can become a certified Open Water diver in as few as 4 days but have year to complete the course and are welcome to schedule your lessons at your own pace and when you have spare time.

With dive centers in Jumeirah, Dubai and Fujairah on the East Coast we’re able to offer the above courses on either coast or a mix between the two. Al Boom Diving has a large team of full-time PADI instructors and no matter which choice you make you will always be under their supervision.
